Marten Construction Management, Inc. is a professional organization specializing in meeting client needs as they relate to total project management.  Below you'll find a brief history of our exemplary past. 

 

 

The History of Marten Construction Management, Inc.

 

Early in 1980, the partners of Paul I. Cripe Engineering, Jim Dankert, Bill Dankert, Al Oak, and one of their employees, Tom Marten, decided to form a separate construction firm.  Tom Marten was its president & CEO.  From the humble beginnings of small remodel jobs, Aztec matured into a formidable construction management firm in central Indiana.

 

In 1990, Bill Dankert and Jim Dankert decided to retire.  Al Oak and Tom Marten split the company and Aztec was dissolved.  Tom Marten seized the opportunity and struck out on his own.  Marten Construction Management, Inc. was formed and Tom continues to provide the same commitment to excellence that has been prevalent in his outstanding history. 

 

Marten Construction Management, Inc. clients range from large pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, churches, private schools, industry, commerical and retail site developers, and residential work.  Marten Construction Management, Inc. has helped in the development of several retail and residential sites, and is currently involved in multiple sites around Indiana.  Our Projects page displays a sampling of our work.  If you'd like more information on any of these projects, or what we can do to help you with your next project, please contact us at:

Getting to Know the People Behind Marten Construction Management, Inc.

The team at Marten Construction Management is what makes our company stand out in the Construction Management industry.  Take a moment to get to know our invaluable staff!

Tom Marten, President

Tom graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Dayton, Dayton, OH and became a Professional Engineer with the State of Indiana in February 1979.

Tom began his career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Lousiville, KY.  He worked in all divisions of the Corps, gaining a strong foundation in Engineering and Construction.

In 1977, Tom began work at Paul I. Cripe as an Engineer.  For three years, he completed the design, planning and implementation of civil engineering projects for both commercial and real estate development.

In February 1980, Tom became President and Chief Operating Officier of Aztec Construction Management, Inc.  This company served clients of Paul I. Cripe, taking on many projects, both large and small.  Aztec's clientele ranged from large pharmaceutical companies and hospitals to churches, industrial, commercial, and retail site developers, as well as residential work.  Aztec Associates and Aztec Development were also formed while Tom headed Aztec Construction Management, Inc.

In 1992, Aztec Construction Management, Inc was purchased by Tom and Marten Construction Management, Inc. was created, where Tom is President and Owner.  Several small companies have spun off of Marten Construction Management, Inc. as the company continues to grow. 

 

Carol Parsley, Office Manager

Carol is the Office Manager for Marten Construction Management, Inc.  She has been a part of the Marten team since February of 1997. 

 

Carol has many years of experience with the financial aspects of running a business.  Before coming to Marten Construction Management, Inc., she was employed in the banking industry for three years.  Prior to banking, she worked at Eli Lilly and Company in the Marketing, Regional Credit, and Accounts Receivable divisions, working her way up from Secretary to Executive Assistant.  Carol attended the Kelley School of Business at IUPUI.  She also attended finance management classes at the University of Indianapolis.  

 

 

 

Tom Marten, Jr., Project Manager

 

Tom joined Marten Construction Management, Inc. in July of 2007 as a Project Manager.

 

Tom graduated from the University of Dayton in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Environomental Biology.  Upon graduation, he obtained a position in Operations Management for Triple Crown, Inc.  After deciding to begin a career in the construction industry, he joined the Project Management department of Pulte Homes of Ohio.  As Tom grew in his career, he obtained a position in Project Management at Bryden Construction.  He then moved on to Ohio Interiors as a Project Manager.   Currently, Tom is responsible for keeping Marten Construction Management, Inc.'s many projects on time and within budget.

 

 

 

John Buckley, Superintendent

John Buckley is a Superintendent for Marten Construction Management, Inc.  John joined the Marten team in 2002.

From being a licensed Journeyman Plumber to a Construction Superintendent, John has a varied and interesting background in the Construction industry.  For 13 years, John had his own General Contracting business, specializing in all phases of restoration.  He won craftmanship awards from A.J.A. for Lockerbie Art Gallery and the Governor Ray House, which was originally constructed in 1836.  In 1987, he accepted a licensed journeyman plumber position at Real Mechanical.  From there, he moved on to K.P. Meiring as a Construction Superintendent.  Currently, John is responsible for overseeing the subcontractors for many projects at Marten Construction Management, Inc.  

 

Angie Kidd, Administrative Assistant

Angie Kidd has been an Administrative Assistant for Marten Construction Management, Inc. since April of 2003.

Before joining our team, Angie worked at Recycled Paper Greetings in Chicago, IL as a Product Coordinator, handling the test marketing program.  She also was employed at DGS Group in Indianapolis.  At DGS Group, she worked in CompuTrack, the marketing firm's lead management and marketing research division.  Angie has a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Telecommunications from Ball State University.
